Together with the neighbours, the idea of an intergenerational project in Nazaret emerged from the participatory activities of the research project ‘Attention, City in the making!’
The long-time deprived neighbourhood did not need grand gestures but a strategy dealing with connection –both physical and emotional– to the city and strengthening the urban fabric with a spatial strategy knitting the building site to its deteriorated surroundings. During participatory activities, their collective intelligence proposed combining children and elderly under one roof.
‘Together’ provided spatial experiences for both by challenging their senses and perception. Light, shadow, colours, textures, shapes… come together in a paradox between the introvert and the extrovert.
